Description

The Knightsbridge CAT6a RJ45 network outlet provides a single shuttered unshielded twisted pair (UTP) port rated for 10Gbps transfer over 100m of cable run at 500MHz bandwidth. The matt black rounded edge faceplate uses a traditional screw-fixed design with 7.5mm projection from the wall once fitted to a 35mm minimum back box.

Designed for home offices, media rooms and living areas where gigabit or 10-gigabit networking is required, the outlet supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) devices including IP cameras, smart home hubs and VoIP phones. The shuttered port protects the RJ45 socket from dust when not in use and prevents foreign objects being inserted. The outlet accepts CAT6a, CAT6 and CAT5e cables, though CAT5e and CAT6 will limit transfer speed to their respective ceilings (1Gbps for CAT5e, 10Gbps over shorter runs for CAT6).

The matt black SPCC steel faceplate provides a low-glare finish that pairs with contemporary, industrial and minimalist interiors. The rounded edge profile softens the wall aperture compared to flat-edge designs and the screw-fixed plate allows for straightforward redecorating without needing to remove cabling. The outlet carries an IP20 rating and includes an earth terminal for safety where required by the installation environment.

Frequently Asked

What cable types can I use with this outlet?

The outlet accepts CAT6a, CAT6 and CAT5e cables terminated onto the IDC terminal block. CAT6a delivers the full 10Gbps at 500MHz over 100m. CAT6 reaches 10Gbps over shorter runs (typically up to 55m). CAT5e is limited to 1Gbps at 100MHz.

Does it support Power over Ethernet (PoE)?

Yes. The outlet supports PoE devices including IP cameras, smart home hubs, wireless access points and VoIP phones, provided the upstream network switch or injector supplies the required PoE standard (802.3af, 802.3at or 802.3bt).

What back box depth is needed?

A 35mm minimum back box depth is required. The faceplate adds 7.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Is the shutter removable?

The shutter is integral to the RJ45 socket module and opens automatically when a network cable is inserted. It is not designed to be removed or disabled.
