Description

The Knightsbridge CAT6a RJ45 network outlet provides a single shuttered socket supporting up to 10Gbps Ethernet transmission over 100m of certified CAT6a cabling. The outlet uses IDC (Insulation Displacement Contact) termination for solid-core network cable and is housed behind an anthracite screwless faceplate with a 4.3mm projection from the wall.

Designed for wired network installations in residential, home office and light commercial settings, the outlet supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications including IP cameras, VoIP phones, wireless access points and networked smart home devices. The unshielded construction suits typical domestic environments where electromagnetic interference is minimal, while the 10Gbps capability provides headroom for 4K streaming, NAS access and high-bandwidth file transfers between networked devices.

The anthracite finish on the SPCC steel faceplate pairs with dark-toned contemporary and industrial interiors without the visual weight of matt black. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to a 35mm minimum back box, hiding all fixings once installed. The shuttered RJ45 socket prevents dust ingress when not in use and the earth terminal provides grounding for metal-clad network equipment where required.

Frequently Asked

What cabling is needed for 10Gbps performance?

The outlet requires certified CAT6a cabling throughout the run to achieve 10Gbps transmission. Using CAT5e or CAT6 will limit performance to their respective maximum speeds (1Gbps for CAT5e, 1-10Gbps for CAT6 depending on run length).

What back box depth is required?

A 35mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the outlet and re-clipped without re-terminating the cable.

Does it support Power over Ethernet?

Yes. The outlet is rated for PoE applications and can supply power to compatible devices such as IP cameras, VoIP phones and wireless access points when connected to a PoE-enabled switch or injector.
