Description

These are two round coffee tables made of bamboo, sold together as a pair. The larger is 60cm across and 50cm tall; the smaller is 40cm across and 43cm tall. Each top sits inside a low raised rim, so it reads almost like a tray on legs, and the two are finished as opposites: the larger has a bamboo top framed by a black rim, the smaller a black top framed by bamboo. Both stand on three tapered black bamboo legs that splay gently outwards.

In a living room the larger table works as the coffee table in front of a sofa, and the smaller one sits beside an armchair or a reading chair as a side table, close enough to reach a book or a remote. You can also stand them next to each other for a grouped arrangement, or split them up, with one in the lounge and the other at the bedside or in a reading corner. The raised rims frame whatever you place on top, whether that is a stack of books, a vase or a small lamp, and the maker gives a maximum load of 20KG.

Both tables are 100% bamboo, legs included, with a lacquer finish. Bamboo is strong for its weight, and lacquer seals the surface, so day-to-day care is simply a wipe with a moist cloth. The maker gives the weight as 6.4KG, and the maker's assembly instructions come as a PDF download. The styling props shown are not included. To style them, let the two finishes answer each other: stand a woven basket or a ceramic vase on the smaller black top, put something darker on the bamboo top of the larger table, and the pair looks planned rather than matched by chance.
