Description
These are paper napkins in a pack of 20, each one 33cm long and 33cm wide, printed all over with a botanical pattern in green. Broad leaves, slender stems, a fine fern and a scatter of open flowers run right to the edges, so the whole napkin carries the design rather than a small motif in one corner. At this size they open out generously across a lap and still fold down neatly beside a plate.
They belong on the kitchen or dining table: beside a breakfast bowl, under a slice of cake at a coffee morning, or laid at each place when friends come for lunch. Because they are paper, there is no washing or ironing afterwards, which suits a busy family table as well as a birthday tea or a weekend brunch with a crowd. The green leaves sit happily with wooden boards, plain white china and other greens on the table, so they work for an ordinary weekday supper as readily as for a gathering.
The napkins are made of paper, and seen close up, a fine dotted texture is pressed into the paper towards the edges. Paper napkins are made to be used once and then thrown away, so there is nothing to launder; simply keep the pack in a drawer or a basket near the table and take out what you need. The pack weighs 0.11KG, light enough to slip into a picnic basket for lunch outdoors. For an easy finish, fold each napkin into a triangle and tuck it under the fork, or lay one flat on a wooden board beneath a bowl so the leaves show around the rim. The styling props shown are not included.
