Description
The Cam dipping bowls come as a pair, made in ceramic under a reactive glaze. The two are not the same size: one is deeper and wider, the other a shallow dish. On both, a dark mocha pools in the well and a creamy white breaks over the rim and runs down it in flecks, so the line where the two meet falls differently on every bowl. The rims are left unglazed enough to show the clay through.
The pair works as a pair. The deeper bowl holds something loose such as olives or nuts, while the shallow dish takes an oil or a dressing to dip into. Both are food safe, and both go in the dishwasher and the microwave.
The clay is worked in southern India using traditional pottery techniques, and the reactive glaze is put on by hand, so it moves in the kiln and settles differently on every piece. No two bowls come out alike. They are made in a fair trade workshop that trains its makers and employs them steadily, with a particular focus on work for women. The Cam range also runs to a coffee mug, a large mug, a lidded storage jar, a utensil holder and a small jug.

Frequently Asked
Are the two bowls the same size?
No. One is deeper and wider than the other.
Can they go in the dishwasher?
Yes. They are dishwasher safe, microwave safe and food safe.
Will the two bowls match each other?
No. The glaze is reactive and moves in the kiln, so every bowl comes out differently.
Where are they made?
In southern India, in a fair trade workshop that trains its makers and provides steady employment, with a particular focus on work for women.
How do I look after them?
Wash them after every use so they do not stain, using a mild detergent, and do not leave them to soak. Handle them carefully, because the rim will chip.
