Description
This sitting cow figurine rests with its legs folded neatly beneath it and its head turned to one side, as if it has just heard someone come into the room. It is made from polystone, a resin, and finished in white with bold black patches across its back, its flank and around one eye. The coat is textured all over like soft, shaggy fur, with a pink nose, pink inner ears, dark glassy eyes and a tail curled up at the back. It measures 20cm high, 33cm wide and 13cm deep, so it has a good presence without taking over a shelf.
Being only 13cm deep, it fits happily on a narrow windowsill, a mantelpiece or the shelf of a kitchen dresser, and its 33cm width lets it lie along the front of a bookcase or a hall table. It suits a farmhouse kitchen, a cosy sitting room or a study with a country feel, and it brings a little warmth to a plain corner. It rests on its folded legs, with no stand, hook or fixing to deal with, so you simply set it down where you want it. We see it as an ornament for shelves and sills indoors.
Polystone takes fine detail well, which is why the ruffled fur, the folds of the ears and the hooves tucked under the body come through so clearly, and the black and white markings stay crisp around the face. To keep it looking fresh, dust it with a soft dry cloth, and for any marks wipe it gently with a slightly damp cloth and let it dry; harsh cleaners are best kept away from the painted finish. Set it beside a row of cookery books or a jug of fresh flowers for an easy country look, or wrap it up as a gift with plenty of gentle charm.
