Description

Bessie is a set of four round stoneware mugs, each holding 300ml and finished in a blue glaze. The shape is the first thing you notice: a straight upper half steps out at a soft shoulder into a wide, rounded belly, then draws in again to a small foot. Over that form the glaze runs in deeper and lighter blues, gathering into petal-like pours around the lower half, with a finely streaked texture across the top. Each mug is 10cm across and 9cm tall, with a loop handle that runs from the rim down to the shoulder.

At 300ml these are proper everyday mugs, sized for a morning coffee, a mid-morning tea or a hot chocolate at the end of the day. A set of four suits a household that gets through plenty of tea, or a small table of guests at a weekend breakfast. The compact height and rounded belly sit comfortably in a cupped hand, which makes them a good choice for a slow drink on the sofa or at the kitchen table.
