Bersama Rattan Fruit Bowl - Natural

A round fruit bowl woven from rattan, 35cm across and 15cm tall, raised on a coiled rattan ring foot. The sides flare out from the foot to a wide mouth, and the weave runs in horizontal courses with a band of bold zigzags worked around the lower body where the canes cross in long Vs. The rim is rolled and braided, and the weave is open, so light passes straight through the walls.

At 35cm across this is a table centre rather than a side bowl. It holds about a dozen apples with room left at the rim. The ring foot lifts the base clear of the surface, so air reaches the fruit from underneath as well as through the open sides. At 15cm deep it stays low enough to see across on a dining table.

The bowl is rattan throughout, foot included, and it is woven by hand, so the run of the zigzag and the set of the rim shift from one bowl to the next. It is food safe. The weave is open and the gaps between the canes are wide, which suits whole fruit rather than anything small enough to drop through. How do I look after it?

Brush the dust out regularly with a soft bristle brush, and wipe it clean with a soft, dry cloth only. Rattan is a natural material, so keep harsh chemical cleaning products away from it.
