Description
A shallow wall-hung case, 30.5cm high and 28cm wide, built from brass rod soldered around panes of glass and only 4.5cm deep front to back. Inside, the space is divided unevenly: rails of small hooks run along the top and part way down one side, open shelves sit across the middle, and a group of small square compartments fills the lower corner. A ring at each top corner takes the fixing. The joins carry the marks of the solder that holds them.
Hung on a wall, everything in it stays in sight and nothing is stacked on anything else. The hooks hold necklaces straight, which is what stops the chains knotting, the small compartments take earrings and rings, and the shelves take whatever will stand up. At 4.5cm deep it sits almost flat to the wall, so it goes in the space beside a mirror or a door where a chest of drawers would not. It suits a bedroom or a bathroom.
The frame is brass and the panels are glass. The metal is soldered around the glass by hand using traditional tools, and the weld marks that leaves on every join are kept rather than cleaned off, so each box carries its own. The surface is left rustic rather than polished, with the brass tone uneven over the rod. The same box is made in a larger size, and the Bequai range also holds an open jewellery box and a honeycomb box.

Frequently Asked
How big is it?
30.5cm high, 28cm wide and 4.5cm deep.
What is inside it?
Rails of small hooks, open shelves across the middle, and a group of small compartments in the lower corner.
Is it made to hang on a wall?
Yes. There is a ring at each top corner.
Is there a larger one?
Yes. The same wall hung box is made in a larger size.
What are the marks on the joins?
Weld marks. The metal is soldered around the glass by hand, and the marks are left in place as part of the finish.
How do I look after it?
Wipe it regularly with a soft, dry cloth, and use a microfibre cloth in a circular motion on the glass. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
