Description

Five slender arms curve out from a central antique brass stem, each holding a candle lamp holder, all gathered beneath one wide drum shade measuring 60cm across. The shade is dual layered: a taupe outer with a halo gold lining that warms the light as it falls. We stock it as a softer alternative to a glass or metal multi arm fitting, for rooms where light should spread rather than sparkle.

It suits a dining table best, hung so the shade sits above eye level and the lining does the work. It also earns its place in a wide hallway, or a sitting room with height to give. The chain lets the drop be set where you want it, from close under the ceiling out to 1.8m for a stairwell or a double height space. Dimming is possible with dimmable lamps and a suitable dimmer, neither of which comes with the fitting. We would fit warm white LED candle lamps here, which keep the gold lining glowing.

The frame and chain are antique brass, a finish with the softened depth of older metalwork rather than a bright polish. The shade is faux silk over a drum form, taupe outside and halo gold within. Dust it with a soft brush or a vacuum upholstery tool on low suction, working across the fabric rather than pressing into it; the brasswork asks for nothing more than a dry cloth, and no sprays or creams. It is wired for an earthed connection and belongs in dry interior rooms, away from bathrooms and porches. It carries a one year warranty.
