Description
The Baja is a standing mirror, 36cm tall and 24cm wide, that leans back on a strut hinged behind it. The frame is broad and flat, and its whole face is cut with fine close-set lines running out from the glass to the outer edge, meeting in a fan at each corner where the sides join. The metal is cast aluminium under an antique brass patina, which sits darker down in the cuts than on the ground between them, so the lines read from across a room.
At 36cm tall this is a mirror for a surface and not for a wall. It is not made to hang, and the strut sets its footprint 13cm deep, so it wants a dressing table, a chest of drawers or a shelf with that much clear behind it. It stands in portrait, taller than it is wide. At 1.95kg there is enough weight in the frame to hold it where it is put.
The frame is cast aluminium, shaped by sand casting. Once the metal has set, the edge is etched by hand to cut the decorative lines, and the antique brass patina goes on last, settling into the cuts and picking out the detail. The glass is plain mirror glass. The strut is fixed to the back rather than supplied loose.

Can it be hung on a wall?
No. It is made to stand, on the strut behind it.
Is the frame solid brass?
No. It is cast aluminium under an antique brass patina.
What are the lines on the frame?
