Description

The Awaa is a mango wood lamp base cut as a teardrop and then faceted: long flat panels run from the foot up to the neck, so the curve is carried in straight cuts rather than in a smooth turn. The form is built up in horizontal layers and the grain and colour change layer by layer, from pale honey through to a dark figured brown. The foot follows the same facets, which leaves it scalloped rather than round. It is 33cm tall and 15cm across.

This is a base only: no shade and no bulb. At 33cm tall and 15cm across it is a bedside height base with a small footprint, and it sits as well on a side table as beside a bed. It weighs 0.97kg. It takes one E27 bulb up to 40W, the cord runs 2.5m and the plug is UK and EU.

The wood is mango, hand turned and then faceted, with the grain, knots and markings left showing rather than stained out. The form is built up in horizontal layers, which is why the colour steps from one band to the next. Neither a shade nor a bulb is included.

Frequently Asked

Does it come with a shade?

No. It is the base only, with a brass cup and a black lampholder on top. Supplied without a shade.

Why does the colour change up the base?

The form is built up in horizontal layers of mango wood and the layers are not matched to one another, so the grain and the tone step from one band to the next.

What bulb does it take?

One E27, up to 40W. No bulb is included.

Is there a switch on the cord?

Yes. The switch sits on the 2.5m cord, so the lamp is switched at the cord rather than at the socket.

How do I clean it?

Unplug it, then wipe it with a soft dry cloth. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off the wood.
