Description

This storage bench in beige is made of iron and MDF. It gives a hallway two places to put things in one compact footprint. The top lifts up to open a storage compartment beneath the seat, with a metal stay at one side to hold the lid while you reach in. Underneath, a slatted shelf runs the full length between four slim legs. It measures 80cm long, 36cm wide and 45cm tall, and the maker gives it a maximum load of 100KG, so it is a proper seat as well as storage.

At 36cm from front to back it takes very little floor space, which suits a narrow hallway or entrance where a deeper bench would get in the way. At 45cm tall it is a sitting height for pulling on boots, with everyday shoes lined up on the slatted shelf and gloves, hats or dog leads kept out of sight under the lid. It works just as well at the foot of a bed for spare blankets, in a study for files and books, or beside a sofa as a low bench with somewhere to tidy away magazines and remote controls.
