AQILO Ø70 7W GU10 IP65 Spotlight - Black

The Aqilo is a compact round LED spotlight built around a GU10 lamp holder, taking a lamp of up to 7W run from a 220 to 240V AC mains supply. It uses a standard PAR16 LED format, so the beam character and colour temperature follow whichever GU10 lamp you fit. Across the Atlantic this style of fitting is the familiar recessed-look surface spot, sized for a single directional lamp rather than broad fill. With a body of just Ø70 by 90mm, it casts a focused pool of light onto whatever it is aimed at rather than washing a whole area.

Because it carries an IP65 rating, the Aqilo suits exposed and wet outdoor positions as well as sheltered ones, making it a practical choice for porches, external walls, garden structures, soffits and covered walkways. It works equally well indoors in damp spots such as utility areas. As a directional single-lamp spot it is best judged on throw rather than floor coverage: aim it to graze a wall, pick out a doorway or highlight planting and a feature, and group several where you need a run of accent points. The tight 7W lamp ceiling keeps it suited to focused detail lighting rather than general illumination.

The housing is aluminium alloy in a black finish, giving it the corrosion resistance wanted for outdoor service. It is ceiling mounted and accepts any GU10 lamp, so the lamp itself is replaceable and chosen to taste; dimming and colour temperature depend on the GU10 you select. The IP65 sealing keeps out dust and water jets, which is what allows the fully exposed outdoor use above. Can the Aqilo be used outdoors and in bathrooms?

Yes. Its IP65 rating means it is sealed against dust and water jets, so it is suitable for exposed and wet outdoor locations as well as sheltered ones. It is equally at home in damp indoor areas such as bathroom zones and utility rooms.

Is a GU10 lamp included, and can it be dimmed?

The fitting takes a standard GU10 lamp rated up to 7W, which you supply separately. Whether it dims and what colour temperature it gives depends entirely on the GU10 lamp you choose, so pick a dimmable lamp if you want to run it on a compatible dimmer.

What sort of beam does it give?

As a single-lamp PAR16 spotlight it produces a focused, directional pool of light rather than broad room fill. The exact beam angle follows the GU10 lamp fitted, so a narrow lamp tightens the spot while a wider one spreads it.

How should the fitting be cleaned?

Switch off and let it cool, then wipe the aluminium body and lens with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive pads or solvents so the black finish and the IP65 seal stay intact, and check the lamp is fully seated before powering back on.
