Description

The Ame is a wall spotlight with a fabric shade rather than a metal one: a round brass plate, a short stem out to a knuckle joint, and a tapered linen shade hanging from it, narrow at the top and wider at the open bottom. The linen is an off white with the weave showing through it, stitched by hand around a frame. It is 25cm tall and 10.5cm across, and it stands 10.5cm out from the wall.

Linen does what brass cannot: the light comes through the fabric as well as out of the open bottom, so the shade glows and the pool below it has no hard edge. The joint lets the shade be tipped, so the pool can be moved without moving the fitting. It takes one E14 bulb up to 15W, it works on a dimmer, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The shade is linen shaped and stitched by hand around its frame, and the mount is brass under an antique brass finish.

Frequently Asked

Does the shade move?

Yes. It sits on a knuckle joint at the wall, so it tips to put the light where it is wanted.

Does light come through the linen?

Yes. The shade glows as well as throwing light out of the open bottom, which is why the pool below has no hard edge to it.

What bulb does it take?

One E14, up to 15W.

Can it go on a dimmer?

Yes.

How do I clean it?

Turn it off, then take the dust off gently with a microfibre cloth or a soft brush. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners away from the linen.
