Description
The Amazzi Large is a planter box held in an iron stand, 70cm tall overall. The box is a reclaimed wooden brick mould, 59cm long and 18cm across, banded with iron straps and rimmed in iron around the top. The wood is worn: the corners are rounded off, old saw marks run across the faces and the tone shifts from pale to rust brown along its length. The stand is four thin black iron legs braced by a rectangle near the floor, with a top rail that cradles the box and runs out past it on both sides.
The box sits at 70cm, which puts the planting at about worktop height, so what grows in it reads at standing height rather than at the floor. The stand is only 18cm from front to back, so it holds a line of plants against a wall or along a corridor without taking up the width of a room. There are drainage holes in the box. Indoor use only.
The box is reclaimed wood and the frame is iron. These moulds were used to shape bricks before they were made into planters, so the marks on them come from that work rather than from finishing, and the tone, the surface and the depth of the finish differ from box to box. The frame is cut and shaped by hand around the box it carries. Amazzi is also made with a 35cm box on the same stand.

Frequently Asked
How big is it?
70cm tall overall. The box is 59cm long and 18cm from front to back.
Does it have drainage holes?
Yes.
Can it go outside?
Indoor use only. Covered outdoor areas are suitable as well.
What is the box made from?
A reclaimed wooden brick mould, set in a hand-cut iron frame.
Will every box look the same?
Not exactly. The wood is reclaimed, so the tone, the surface markings and the finish vary from one box to the next.
How do I look after it?
Clean it at least twice a year with warm soapy water, so dust, dirt and mould do not build up.
