Description

The Amara is a 47cm empire-style crystal chandelier built around a polished chrome frame and strung with hand-cut K9 lead-free crystal beads. Six G9 lamps (40W max each, sold separately) sit inside the basket, with the light passing through a dense inner cage of beaded crystal and a wider outer cradle of looped crystal swags that drop from the chrome corona to the lower ring.

The compact 47cm width and 64.8cm height suit smaller rooms where a full-scale chandelier would overpower the space: entrance halls, powder rooms, dressing rooms, dining alcoves and stairwell landings. With a 150cm cable supplied, the chandelier can be hung at standard ceiling heights of 2.4-2.7m or shortened on installation. The G9 lamp format keeps each light source small and bright, so the crystal does the visual work rather than the bulbs.

The chandelier-within-a-chandelier construction creates two distinct layers of refraction: the inner basket of close-packed faceted beads acts as the primary diffuser, while the outer swags of beaded chains catch and scatter light around the room. K9 crystal is an optical-grade glass with high clarity and a refractive index close to leaded crystal, giving the Amara genuine sparkle without the lead content. The chrome frame keeps the palette cool and pairs with mirrored, glass and lacquered furniture as well as cleaner contemporary interiors. Total weight is 9.5kg, so a standard ceiling hook rated for chandelier loads is needed.

What bulbs does the Amara take?

The chandelier takes six G9 capsule bulbs, each rated up to 40W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. G9 LED capsules in 3W-4W and 2700K-3000K give a warm output that flatters the crystal without generating excess heat.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting is compatible with dimming when paired with dimmable G9 LED bulbs and a matched LED dimmer switch. Standard halogen G9 bulbs also dim on most trailing-edge dimmers. Check bulb and dimmer compatibility before installation.

What ceiling height does it suit?

At 64.8cm tall with a 150cm cable, the Amara suits standard ceiling heights from around 2.4m upwards. The cable can be shortened on installation to set the chandelier at the right drop above a dining table, hallway floor or stairwell.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The Amara does not carry an IP rating and is not suitable for bathroom zones 0, 1 or 2. It can be installed in a powder room or cloakroom that has no shower or bath, where standard interior fittings are permitted.
