Description

The Alexandra is a 50cm-diameter crystal chandelier with nine E14 bulb positions arranged across a tiered polished chrome frame. The structure comprises two circular chrome rings—one at the canopy and a larger ring forming the lower tier—connected by vertical strands of faceted crystal drops and clear crystal spheres. Each tier holds faceted crystal prisms that hang in layers, creating depth and refraction when the chandelier is lit.

Designed for entrance halls, dining rooms and stairwells with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the Alexandra's adjustable drop extends from 790mm minimum to 2200mm maximum, allowing the chandelier to be set proportionately to room scale. The nine bulbs are positioned within the lower tier where the chrome ring supports the crystal assembly, directing light both upward through the cascading strands and outward through the faceted drops. The 12.7kg weight requires secure ceiling fixing into a joist or supporting noggin, not just plasterboard alone.

The polished chrome finish on the frame reflects light from the bulbs and mirrors the clarity of the crystal, creating a bright, high-contrast appearance that suits traditional, classical and glam interiors. Each crystal element is cut with facets that refract and split the light into prismatic colour when the chandelier is illuminated. Is the Alexandra dimmable?

The chandelier itself is compatible with dimming if you fit dimmable E14 bulbs and connect it to a compatible dimmer switch on the lighting circuit. The fixture has no internal electronics that would prevent dimming.

What bulbs does it take and are they included?

The Alexandra takes nine E14 small Edison screw bulbs, each rated up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are not included. Most users pair this chandelier with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for a traditional glow that complements the crystal without excessive glare.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable drop extends from 790mm to 2200mm, giving flexibility for different ceiling heights. For a standard 2.4m-2.7m ceiling in a dining room, the chandelier would typically be set to the minimum or near-minimum drop to maintain clearance. Entrance halls and stairwells with 3m+ ceilings can use the full extension to fill the vertical space.

How is the chandelier secured to the ceiling?

At 12.7kg the Alexandra requires fixing into a ceiling joist or a supporting noggin between joists, not just plasterboard or lath-and-plaster alone. The ceiling rose supplied with the fitting bolts through the plasterboard into structural timber, and the chandelier's chain and cable are anchored to this rose. Professional installation is recommended.
