Description

A wide clear glass vase held in an iron stand, 31cm tall and 28cm across overall. The glass is a squat drum with a domed shoulder that rises to a short neck and a heavy rolled lip, and the wall carries the shallow waves of blown glass rather than running dead straight. The stand is a flat iron band that grips the glass round its middle, carried on legs that drop below it and turn out into small flat feet.

The stand lifts the glass clear of the surface it stands on. The neck is narrow against the 28cm body, which gathers stems into the middle, and it holds a spray of long branches that stand well above the 31cm of the vase itself. The glass lifts out of the stand rather than being fixed into it, so the two can be handled apart.

The glass is recycled and hand blown into a simple mould, so the thickness of the wall and the run of the waves differ from one vase to the next. The stand is iron, in a dark finish. The whole thing weighs 4.08kg empty.
