Description

Akira is a grey stoneware vase sculpted as a woman's head. Her eyes are closed and her face is calm, and a crown of raised roses runs around the rim and down over the temples like a wreath of curls. It stands 30cm tall and 21cm across. The neck forms its base, so on a shelf it looks as much like a small bust as a vase. The surface is matt with a fine, grainy texture that catches the light on the petals, and at 2.85KG it feels solid when lifted.

Its 30cm height suits a medium to tall arrangement of branches, leafy stems and seed heads, or dried grasses that last all year. The open top takes a generous handful. It sits well on a deep windowsill, a mantelpiece, a sideboard or a low stool beside an armchair.
