Description

The Abucay Vase is a rounded, capsule-shaped vase in aluminium with a brushed brass finish, a warm gold that catches the light along its curved sides. It stands 28cm tall and 17cm across, with softly rounded shoulders rising to a wide open mouth and a neat, slightly recessed foot at the base. Fine brushed lines give the surface a soft sheen rather than a mirror shine, and the gold tone carries on inside the neck. At 0.8KG it is easy to lift and move around the house.

We like it on a console table, a mantelpiece, a bookcase or a hallway side table, anywhere a warm metallic tone can lift a pale wall or a run of natural wood. It is made for artificial and dried flowers only, which suits long-lasting arrangements: a few faux magnolia stems, dried pampas grass, eucalyptus or seed heads that stay looking the same all year. That makes it a good choice for a dim corner, a high shelf or a busy home, since there is no water to change and nothing to wilt. The wide mouth takes a generous bunch, and the 28cm height gives taller stems a balanced, upright line.

Each vase is handmade, so every piece is unique: expect small differences in the brushing and the depth of tone from one vase to the next, which we think is part of its charm.
