Description
The Knightsbridge 6ft LED batten is a 1790mm steel and polycarbonate linear fitting with dual-adjustable output (27W or 52W), adjustable colour temperature (3000K, 4000K or 5700K), and an integrated microwave presence sensor. At 52W output the batten delivers 7,520 lumens at 4000K neutral white, providing high-intensity overhead lighting for garages, workshops, commercial storage areas and utility rooms. At 27W the output drops to 4,170 lumens at the same colour temperature, suitable for smaller spaces or installations where lower light levels are preferred.
The microwave sensor detects movement within its detection zone and switches the batten on automatically, then dims or switches off after a user-adjustable period of inactivity. This suits commercial and industrial applications where hands-free operation reduces energy waste in intermittently-occupied areas. The wattage and CCT are set via switches accessible behind the hinged gear tray, allowing installers to configure output without needing different SKUs for different brightness or colour requirements. The batten mounts directly to BESA boxes or ceiling surfaces using rear and end conduit entry points, and the push-fit loop in-loop out terminals simplify wiring multiple battens in series.
The pressed steel housing is finished in white and measures 61mm wide by 71mm deep, giving a low-profile presence on ceilings between 2.4m and 5m high. The opal polycarbonate diffuser spreads light evenly across a 145° beam angle, avoiding the striped shadows common to bare-tube fluorescent battens. The fitting is rated IP20 for dry indoor use, Class I earthed, and carries a 5-year warranty. The LED array is rated L70B50 at 60,000 hours, meaning 70% of units will maintain at least 70% of initial lumen output after 60,000 hours of continuous operation.

Frequently Asked
How is the wattage and colour temperature adjusted?
Both settings are configured via DIP switches accessible behind the hinged gear tray. The wattage can be set to 27W or 52W, and the CCT to 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white, or 5700K cool white. These are set during installation and do not require reconfiguration once the batten is mounted.
How does the microwave sensor work?
The integrated microwave sensor detects movement within its detection zone and switches the batten on automatically. The sensor includes adjustable settings for detection sensitivity and hold time (the period the light remains on after the last detected movement). See the installation manual in the Downloads tab for adjustment instructions.
Can multiple battens be wired together?
Yes. The batten includes push-fit loop in-loop out terminals that allow multiple units to be wired in series without needing separate junction boxes. The hinged gear tray provides access to the terminals without removing the batten from the ceiling.
Is it suitable for replacing fluorescent tube fittings?
Yes. The batten mounts to standard 600mm centres and BESA boxes, making it a direct replacement for conventional 6ft fluorescent battens. The rear and end conduit entry points match typical fluorescent fitting layouts.
