Description

The Knightsbridge CU110V is a 6AX 2-way dimmer module designed for LED drivers and high-frequency ballasts that use a 1-10V DC control input. The module combines a rotary dial for brightness adjustment with a push on/off switch, giving separate control over dimming level and mains power. The brightness control circuit and the mains switching circuit are electrically isolated from each other.

Intended for installation in multi-gang modular systems, the module ships with a curved edge grid adaptor kit that allows it to be fitted into Knightsbridge's grid system or used with unpopulated dimmer plates. The module fits into a standard 25mm back box behind the grid frame. The 2-way configuration allows the dimmer to be controlled from two separate switch positions, useful in corridors, staircases, and rooms with multiple entry points.

The module is rated at 6AX on 230V mains, handling up to 1,380W of switched load. However, it must only be paired with dimmable ballasts or LED drivers that provide a 1-10V DC control input — it cannot drive LED lamps directly. Before installation, check that the in-rush current of connected LED lamps or drivers does not exceed 6A, and that the control signal side of the ballast or driver does not exceed 50mA. Fit in-rush current limiters where necessary to prevent overload during switch-on.

Frequently Asked

What is a 1-10V dimmer and how does it differ from a standard dimmer?

A 1-10V dimmer sends a low-voltage control signal (1-10V DC) to a compatible LED driver or ballast, which then adjusts the brightness of the connected lamps. Standard dimmers vary the mains voltage directly to the lamp. This module requires LED drivers or ballasts with a 1-10V control input — it cannot be used with standard dimmable LED lamps that expect phase-cut dimming.

What does 2-way mean?

2-way means the dimmer can be controlled from two separate switch positions, allowing control from either end of a corridor, staircase, or room with multiple entry points. This requires appropriate wiring during installation.

What is the maximum load?

The module is rated at 6AX on 230V, which equates to 1,380W of switched load. However, you must also check that the in-rush current of your LED lamps or drivers does not exceed 6A, and that the control signal side of your ballast or driver does not exceed 50mA. Use in-rush current limiters where necessary.

What is included in the box?

The module ships with a curved edge grid adaptor kit, allowing it to be installed in Knightsbridge's modular grid system or used with unpopulated dimmer plates. The module itself, the grid adaptor components, and mounting hardware are included.
