Description

The Knightsbridge 6A 1-gang 2-way dummy dimmer module is a push on/off switch styled to look like a rotary dimmer, designed for use in modular grid faceplates where visual consistency with actual dimmer modules is required. The rotary knob provides tactile push action to switch lighting on or off at 230V 50Hz, rated for loads up to 6A (1,380W), but does not dim — it operates as a standard two-way switch.

This module suits installations where some circuits need dimming and others do not, but a uniform appearance across the grid faceplate is preferred. Common applications include hospitality environments, listed buildings where rewiring for dimmable circuits is not feasible, and retrofit situations where existing lighting is not compatible with dimmer technology but sits alongside dimmable circuits on the same multi-gang plate. The 25mm module width fits Knightsbridge grid systems with matching white (UREA) finish modules.

The module body is ABS construction with a white UREA finish matching Knightsbridge's standard grid range. At 56.5mm height and 25mm width, it occupies one grid position and requires a minimum 35mm back box depth for installation. The IP20 rating limits use to dry internal locations. Two-way switching allows the module to be wired into circuits controlled from multiple switch positions elsewhere in the property.

Frequently Asked

Does this module actually dim lighting?

No. The module is a standard 6A on/off switch styled to look like a rotary dimmer. The knob pushes in to switch the circuit on or off but does not rotate to vary light levels.

Why would I use a dummy dimmer instead of a standard switch module?

Dummy dimmers maintain visual consistency on multi-gang grid faceplates where some circuits are dimmable and others are not. This allows all positions on the plate to have the same rotary-knob appearance rather than mixing dimmer knobs with rocker switches.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 35mm back box depth is needed for safe installation. The module projects 23mm from the mounting surface once fitted into a grid faceplate.

Can it be used in two-way switching configurations?

Yes. The module supports two-way switching, allowing the same lighting circuit to be controlled from this module and one other switch position elsewhere in the property.
