Description

The Knightsbridge GDM022PC is a 6A 1-gang 2-way dummy dimmer module with a polished chrome rotary knob that functions as a standard on/off switch rather than a true dimmer. The module fits into Knightsbridge grid faceplates, providing the visual appearance of a rotary dimmer where the actual circuit needs only simple 2-way switching.

Designed for multi-gang grid installations where one or more circuits require dimming whilst others need standard switching, the dummy dimmer allows visual consistency across a grid plate without the cost or complexity of fitting actual dimmer modules to non-dimmable circuits. The rotary knob operates a push on/off mechanism — pressing the knob toggles the circuit on or off, with the knob itself serving as a decorative element rather than a functional rotary control.

The module measures 25mm wide and 56.5mm tall, occupying one standard grid aperture. It requires a minimum 35mm mounting box depth and is rated at 6A on 230V, handling resistive loads up to 1,380W. The polished chrome finish on the rotary knob matches Knightsbridge's wider polished chrome grid and socket range, giving a coordinated metallic accent across switch plates, sockets and grid faceplates in the same room.

The module uses an ABS and steel construction with an IP20 rating, suitable for dry indoor locations. When installed in a grid faceplate alongside genuine dimmer modules, the dummy dimmer provides tactile consistency — all controls present as rotary knobs, even though some dim and others simply switch.

Frequently Asked

Does this module actually dim lights?

No. The GDM022PC is a dummy dimmer — it functions as a standard 2-way on/off switch. The rotary knob is decorative, providing the visual appearance of a dimmer without the dimming circuit. Pressing the knob toggles the light on or off.

Why would I use a dummy dimmer instead of a standard switch module?

Dummy dimmers maintain visual consistency across grid faceplates where some circuits require actual dimming and others need only on/off switching. Using dummy dimmers for the non-dimmable circuits means all controls on the plate present as rotary knobs rather than a mix of rockers and rotaries.

What grid faceplate does this fit?

The module fits any Knightsbridge grid faceplate designed for 25mm-wide modules. Grid faceplates are sold separately and are available in 1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang and 4-gang configurations across multiple finishes.

What load can it handle?

The module is rated at 6A on 230V, handling resistive loads up to 1,380W. This covers most standard domestic lighting circuits, though not high-wattage circuits requiring 10A or 16A capacity.
