Description
The Knightsbridge 6A 1-gang 2-way dummy dimmer module is a grid-compatible switch module with a rotary-style front that looks like a dimmer but operates as a simple push on/off switch. The rounded black knob is marked 'TOP' for correct orientation and pushes in to toggle power on or off, rather than rotating to dim. The module is rated at 6A on 230V, handling loads up to 1,380W.
Designed for modular grid systems where visual consistency across multiple switch positions matters, the dummy dimmer allows rooms to have uniform dimmer-style controls even where dimming capability is not needed. This is common in hospitality fit-outs, show homes and residential projects where the dimmer aesthetic is wanted across a bank of switches but only some circuits need actual dimming. The module clips into standard grid faceplates and back boxes with a 35mm minimum depth.
The matt black finish gives a low-sheen surface that resists fingerprints better than gloss black and integrates with contemporary, industrial and monochrome interiors. The body is moulded from ABS with internal steel terminals for durability. At 25mm wide, it occupies one grid space within a multi-gang plate, allowing it to be mixed with other grid modules (sockets, switches, dimmers, data ports) behind a single coordinated faceplate.

Frequently Asked
Does this module actually dim lights?
No. Despite the rotary dimmer-style front, this is a dummy dimmer that operates as a simple push on/off switch. The knob does not rotate — it pushes in to toggle power. If dimming is required, use an actual dimmer module instead.
What grid system does it fit?
The module is designed for Knightsbridge grid systems and occupies one 25mm-wide grid space. It clips into standard grid back boxes with a minimum 35mm depth and pairs with Knightsbridge grid faceplates sold separately.
Can it be mixed with other modules on the same plate?
Yes. The 25mm-wide module can be combined with other Knightsbridge grid modules (sockets, switches, dimmers, data ports) behind a single multi-gang grid faceplate, allowing coordinated control of multiple circuits from one wall position.
What's the IP rating?
IP20, suitable for dry indoor locations only. It is not rated for bathrooms, kitchens near sinks, or any outdoor or damp environment.
