Description

The Knightsbridge NCLB15 is a 5ft single T8 LED ready batten fitting with an IP65-rated polycarbonate body and prismatic diffuser. The fitting accepts one 1500mm T8 LED tube (sold separately) and is pre-wired without ballast or driver, requiring only dedicated self-ballasted T8 LED tubes that connect directly to 230V mains supply.

Designed for industrial, commercial and agricultural environments where dust ingress and water jets are a concern, the IP65 rating means the fitting is dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. Common installations include warehouses, workshops, car washes, outdoor covered areas, agricultural buildings, cold stores and food preparation zones. The impact-resistant polycarbonate construction withstands knocks and vibration better than fluorescent battens with glass diffusers.

The grey polycarbonate body measures 1563mm long, 94mm wide and 90mm deep, with mounting clips at each end for surface fixing to ceilings or walls. The prismatic diffuser spreads light evenly across the 5ft length rather than concentrating it in a central hotspot. Class I construction requires earthing via the mains supply cable. Light output, colour temperature and dimming capability depend entirely on the T8 LED tube fitted — check the tube specification before pairing with dimmer switches.

What T8 LED tube does this fitting take?

The fitting accepts standard 1500mm (5ft) T8 LED tubes with self-contained ballast that connect directly to 230V mains. The fitting has no ballast or driver built in, so fluorescent tubes and some retrofit LED tubes requiring external drivers will not work. Check the tube packaging confirms it is rated for direct mains connection.

Can this be used outdoors?

The IP65 rating protects against dust and water jets, making the fitting suitable for covered outdoor areas such as carports, loading bays and agricultural barns where the fitting is sheltered from direct rain but exposed to moisture and dust. It is not rated for full outdoor exposure without a canopy or roof above it.

Is the fitting dimmable?

Dimming depends entirely on the T8 LED tube fitted. The batten itself has no dimming control. If dimming is required, pair the fitting with a T8 LED tube rated as dimmable and install a compatible mains dimmer switch upstream. Non-dimmable LED tubes will flicker or fail if connected to a dimmer circuit.

How is the diffuser removed for tube replacement?

The prismatic polycarbonate diffuser is held by spring clips along the length of the fitting. Press the clips inward and lift the diffuser away to access the T8 tube. No tools are required for lamp changes, though isolating the mains supply before opening the fitting is recommended.
