Description

The Knightsbridge 5ft 40W DALI CCT Adjustable LED Batten is a 1525mm linear ceiling-mounted fitting with an integrated LED module delivering up to 5720lm through an opal polycarbonate diffuser. The batten allows on-site selection of three colour temperatures (3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white, 5700K cool white) via a switch on the driver, and supports DALI dimming control when connected to a compatible lighting management system.

Designed as a direct replacement for twin 5ft fluorescent tube fixtures in commercial, retail, warehouse and workshop environments, the batten provides uniform light distribution across a 145-degree beam angle with a CRI of >85. The pressed steel body carries rear and end conduit entry points for cable runs, and the hinged gear tray opens to reveal push-fit loop-in loop-out terminals for daisy-chaining multiple fittings without junction boxes. The IP20 rating suits dry indoor environments including offices, corridors, stockrooms and garages.

The white powder-coated finish on the steel body provides a clean, neutral appearance that blends with white or light-coloured ceilings. The batten measures 61mm wide and projects 71mm from the ceiling when surface-mounted, making it suitable for standard 2.4-2.7m ceiling heights without intrusion into headroom. The LED module is rated to L70B50 at 60,000 hours, equivalent to approximately 20 years at 8 hours per day, reducing lamp replacement frequency compared to fluorescent tubes. How is the colour temperature changed?

A switch on the driver allows selection between 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white, and 5700K cool white. The selection is made once during installation or commissioning and remains fixed until manually changed by accessing the driver again.

What is DALI and is it dimmable?

DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) is a two-wire control protocol used in commercial lighting management systems. The batten dims when connected to a DALI controller, allowing programmed dimming schedules or scene control. Without a DALI controller, the batten operates at full output.

Can multiple battens be linked together?

Yes. The hinged gear tray reveals push-fit loop-in loop-out terminals that allow daisy-chaining of multiple battens from a single supply cable without additional junction boxes. The total load on the circuit must remain within the circuit breaker rating.

What is the L70B50 rating and what does it mean?

L70B50 60,000 hours means that after 60,000 hours of operation, 50% of a batch of these fittings will still produce at least 70% of their original light output. At 8 hours per day, this equates to approximately 20 years before noticeable light degradation occurs.
