Description
The Knightsbridge 45A DP switch is a 1-gang double pole cooker control switch with a red neon indicator, finished in pearl. The double pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the switch is turned off, providing complete circuit isolation for cooker maintenance, repairs and safe cleaning. The neon indicator glows red when the switch is on, giving visible confirmation of circuit status.
Designed for controlling electric cookers, ovens and hobs drawing up to 45A (10.35kW at 230V), the switch is typically installed next to or above a cooker unit in domestic kitchens. The double pole isolation is required by UK wiring regulations (BS 7671) for fixed cooking appliances, and the neon indicator allows confirmation that the circuit is isolated before carrying out maintenance or deep cleaning behind an appliance. The switch can control multiple cooking appliances on the same circuit provided the combined load does not exceed 45A.
The ultra-flat profile projects just 2.5mm from the wall once fitted, with a built-in gasket that seals the plate against the mounting box. The 87.5mm square faceplate is screw-fixed and requires a minimum 47mm back box depth for safe installation. The pearl finish is a soft off-white with a subtle metallic sheen that pairs well with both white and cream painted walls, providing a warmer alternative to standard white switches.

Frequently Asked
What does the neon indicator show?
The red neon indicator glows when the switch is in the on position, confirming that power is supplied to the cooker circuit. When the switch is off, the neon is dark, giving visible confirmation that the circuit is isolated.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 47mm mounting box depth is needed for safe installation. The ultra-flat design projects just 2.5mm from the wall once the faceplate is fitted.
Can this control multiple cooking appliances?
Yes, provided the combined load of all appliances on the circuit does not exceed 45A (10.35kW at 230V). Typical use cases include controlling an oven and hob on the same circuit, or an oven and separate grill unit.
Is this suitable for use with induction hobs?
Yes. The 45A rating handles most domestic induction hobs, ovens and combination units. Check the appliance rating plate to confirm total load before installation.
