Description
The Knightsbridge 20AX intermediate grid module provides multi-way switching functionality from three or more points in a lighting circuit. Rated at 20AX on 230V, the module clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames (sold separately) from the front, allowing it to be installed without removing the frame from the wall.
Designed for use in residential, commercial and hospitality installations where lighting control is needed from multiple locations, the intermediate module sits between two-way switches at either end of the circuit. Common applications include stairwells, long corridors, large open-plan living spaces and hotel rooms where a light needs to be controlled from three, four or more points. The grid system allows multiple modules to be combined into a single faceplate, reducing the number of visible fixtures on the wall.
The module is constructed from ABS with steel contacts and measures 24.8mm wide, 56.3mm tall, with a 7mm projection from the mounting frame once installed. The anthracite finish is a dark charcoal grey that works well in contemporary and industrial interiors, and pairs with other anthracite, black or grey accessories in the Knightsbridge grid range. The module carries an IP20 rating and a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked
What is an intermediate switch used for?
An intermediate switch allows a light to be controlled from three or more points. It sits between two-way switches at either end of the circuit. Common uses include stairwells where control is needed at ground, first and second floor levels, or long corridors with multiple entry points.
Does this module require a separate mounting frame?
Yes. Knightsbridge grid modules clip into separate mounting frames, which are available in 1-module, 2-module, 3-module and larger configurations. The frame is fixed to a 35mm minimum back box, then the module clips in from the front without tools.
Can multiple modules be combined in one faceplate?
Yes. The grid system allows multiple modules to be combined into a single mounting frame, reducing the number of visible faceplates on the wall. For example, a 3-module frame can hold this intermediate module alongside two socket modules or dimmer modules.
What other finishes are available in the grid range?
Knightsbridge produces grid modules and frames in a range of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, matt black, white and anthracite. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
