Description

The Knightsbridge 20AX DP switch module is a single-gang grid insert that provides double pole switching with a red neon indicator behind a white thermoset resin rocker. Rated at 20AX on 230V mains, the module handles loads up to 4,600W, making it suitable for immersion heaters, water heaters and other high-draw fixed appliances. The neon glows when the circuit is live, providing visual confirmation of status from across the room.

Designed for curved grid systems only, the module measures 55mm high by 25mm wide and sits within a 35mm minimum depth back box. The front-mounting design allows the module to be clipped into a curved grid plate alongside other compatible modules, creating custom multi-gang configurations to suit specific room layouts. The double pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when off, providing additional safety for circuits where full isolation is required.

The white finish coordinates with Knightsbridge's Curved Edge range and is treated with antimicrobial additives tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on the surface. The thermoset resin construction provides impact resistance and dimensional stability across temperature changes. The recessed depth of 20mm means the module sits flush within the grid plate once installed, with only the rocker and neon aperture visible from the wall.

What is the 20AX rating used for?

The 20AX rating indicates the module can handle loads up to 4,600W on 230V mains, making it suitable for high-draw fixed appliances such as immersion heaters, water heaters and electric showers. Standard 10AX switches are rated to 2,300W and are not suitable for these loads.

Can this module be used in standard faceplates?

No. This module is designed exclusively for Knightsbridge curved grid systems and will not fit standard screw-fixed or screwless faceplates. You need a compatible curved grid plate to house the module.

What does the neon indicator show?

The neon glows red when the circuit is live, providing visual confirmation that power is flowing to the connected load. This is particularly useful for immersion heaters and other appliances where you want to confirm operational status without checking the appliance itself.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 35mm back box depth is needed to accommodate the module and wiring connections. The module itself has a 20mm recessed depth once installed in the grid plate.
