Description
The Knightsbridge 20AX 2-way SP switch module is a grid system component designed to be assembled into custom switch plate configurations alongside other Knightsbridge grid modules. The switch carries a 20AX rating at 230V, handling loads up to 4,600W, and operates as a single pole 2-way switch with a centre-off position that allows three states: circuit 1 on, off, or circuit 2 on.
Designed for installation in the Knightsbridge Curved Grid System, the module slots into grid frames that accept 1-6 modules and then mount onto a 35mm minimum back box. The 2-way centre-off function allows one switch to control a single light or appliance from two different locations, or to toggle between two separate circuits from one switch position, with a deliberate off state between them. This makes it useful in hallways, staircases, large rooms with multiple entry points, or situations where alternating between two lighting zones is needed.
The module measures 55mm high by 25mm wide and sits 20mm recessed into the grid frame once installed. The white thermoset resin construction carries anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011, making it appropriate for healthcare, hospitality and residential settings where hygiene is a priority. The IP20 rating confirms suitability for dry indoor locations but not for bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor use. Knightsbridge backs the module with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked
What does 'centre off' mean?
A centre-off switch has three positions: up (circuit 1 on), middle (both circuits off), and down (circuit 2 on). The switch must pass through the off state when toggling between the two circuits, unlike a standard 2-way switch which is always on in one direction or the other.
Can this be used on its own?
No. This is a grid module component that must be fitted into a Knightsbridge grid frame (sold separately) before it can be installed. Grid frames are available in 1-6 module widths and clip onto a standard back box.
What back box depth is required?
A 35mm minimum back box depth is needed. The module itself recesses 20mm into the grid frame, with the remaining depth accommodating wiring and the grid frame mounting lugs.
Is it suitable for bathrooms?
No. The IP20 rating confirms this module is designed for dry indoor locations only. Bathroom installations require IP44 or higher rated components.
