Description

This Knightsbridge 20AX 2-way SP key switch module is laser-printed with 'EMG LTG TEST' for emergency lighting circuit control and testing. The module clips into Knightsbridge Curved Grid front plates and grid systems, and uses a removable key to prevent unauthorised switching of critical circuits.

Designed for commercial, healthcare and institutional installations where emergency lighting circuits need to be tested under controlled conditions, the key switch allows a designated person to activate the test function without exposing the switch to general use. The 20AX rating handles loads up to 4,600W on 230V mains, which covers typical emergency lighting panel outputs and larger grouped circuits. The 2-way switching configuration allows the circuit to be controlled from this module or from another switch point elsewhere in the installation.

The module measures 25mm wide (single grid width) and clips into Knightsbridge Curved Grid frames without tools. The white thermoset resin construction carries anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011, making it suitable for healthcare environments where surface hygiene is monitored. The recessed depth of 20mm requires a minimum 35mm back box behind the grid frame. Knightsbridge backs this module with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What grid systems is this compatible with?

This module clips into Knightsbridge Curved Grid front plates and grid frames. It measures 25mm wide, occupying a single grid width. The module is not compatible with screw-fixed faceplates or non-grid switch ranges.

Is the key removable when the switch is in the 'on' position?

Key switch behaviour depends on the specific model design. Most Knightsbridge key switches allow the key to be removed in either position, preventing tampering regardless of switch state. Refer to the product manual in the Downloads tab for this module's key-removal specification.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 35mm back box depth is needed. The module itself has a 20mm recessed depth, and the grid frame adds further projection, so a 35mm or 47mm metal back box is typically used depending on the number of modules being grouped.

What does the 20AX rating mean?

20AX indicates the switch can handle a maximum current of 20 amperes on 230V AC mains, equivalent to 4,600W. The 'X' denotes inductive load rating, meaning it can switch motors, transformers and fluorescent ballasts in addition to resistive loads like incandescent lamps and heaters.
