Description

The Knightsbridge GDM007U is a 20AX 2-way single-pole key switch module marked 'EMG LTG TEST' for controlling emergency lighting test circuits. The module clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames (sold separately) from the front, allowing quick installation and replacement without disturbing adjacent modules or rewiring the back box.

Designed for commercial installations requiring emergency lighting compliance, the key switch provides controlled access to the test function, preventing casual or accidental activation by building occupants. The 20AX rating handles higher-current emergency lighting loads than standard 10AX switches, making it suitable for multi-unit or high-output emergency lighting arrays. The 2-way switching allows the module to be wired into a circuit with another switch controlling the same load.

The white UREA finish matches the standard Knightsbridge grid system colour palette and is rated IP20 for dry indoor locations. The module measures 56.3mm high by 24.8mm wide, occupying one standard grid module position, and requires a minimum 35mm back box depth. The ABS construction with steel internal contacts is backed by a 25-year warranty. The module includes one key, with spares available separately if multiple authorised users need access.

Frequently Asked

What grid frame is needed for installation?

The module clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames sold separately. The module occupies one standard grid position, so a 1-module, 2-module, 3-module or larger frame can accommodate it depending on how many modules are being installed together.

What does the 20AX rating mean?

20AX means the switch can handle up to 20 amps of alternating current. This is higher than standard domestic switches (typically 10AX) and allows the module to control larger emergency lighting loads or multiple emergency light units on the same circuit.

Can the key be removed in both positions?

Key switch behaviour varies by model. Most emergency lighting test switches allow key removal in the 'off' position only, preventing the key from being removed while the test circuit is active. Check the product datasheet or contact us to confirm the keying configuration for this specific module.

Is this compatible with BS 5266 emergency lighting standards?

The module is designed for emergency lighting test circuits and is manufactured to UK electrical standards. BS 5266 compliance depends on the overall system design and installation rather than the switch alone. Consult a qualified electrician for system-level compliance.
