Description
The Knightsbridge 20AX 2-way single pole grid switch module provides switching control within the Knightsbridge Grid modular system, finished in smoked bronze. The module clips into compatible mounting frames from the front without tools, allowing custom configurations of switches, sockets and control modules within a single faceplate assembly. The 20AX rating handles loads up to 4,600W on 230V mains, suited to lighting circuits, appliance switching and general residential control applications.
Designed for use with Knightsbridge Grid mounting frames (sold separately), the module forms part of a modular system where individual control and power functions can be mixed and matched within 1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang or larger grid assemblies. This allows electricians and specifiers to create bespoke switch and socket configurations tailored to specific room layouts, reducing the number of separate faceplates needed on a wall. The 2-way single pole switching enables control from two locations, making it suitable for hallway, staircase and through-room lighting circuits.
The smoked bronze finish is a dark metallic tone with subtle brown undertones, sitting between matt black and antique brass on the visual spectrum. The module body is constructed from ABS plastic with steel internal components, rated IP20 for indoor dry-location use. At 24.8mm width, the module occupies one grid space within the modular frame, and the 35mm minimum back box depth requirement is standard for UK grid systems. The clip-in front-mounting mechanism allows modules to be swapped or reconfigured without removing the frame from the wall, useful during fit-out changes or property refurbishment.

Frequently Asked
What is the Knightsbridge Grid system?
The Grid system is a modular wiring accessory platform where individual switch, socket, dimmer and control modules clip into a separate mounting frame to create custom faceplate configurations. This allows multiple functions to be combined in a single wall plate rather than installing separate switches and sockets side by side.
What mounting frame does this module require?
The module clips into Knightsbridge Grid mounting frames, sold separately. Frames are available in 1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang and larger sizes depending on how many modules you need to combine. The frame fixes to a standard back box, then modules clip in from the front.
What does 2-way single pole mean?
2-way switching allows the same light or load to be controlled from two different switch positions, typical for hallways and staircases. Single pole means only the live conductor is switched, with the neutral remaining unbroken in the circuit.
Can the module be removed and replaced without rewiring?
Yes. The clip-in design allows modules to be removed from the front of the frame and replaced with different modules without touching the wiring behind the frame, useful for reconfiguring switch layouts during property refits.
