The Knightsbridge 20AX 2-way single pole grid switch module is a brushed brass rocker switch designed for installation into Knightsbridge's modular grid system. The module clips into standard grid mounting frames from the front, allowing individual switches to be added or swapped without disturbing other modules in the same frame. Rated at 20AX, it can handle lighting loads up to 4,600W at 230V.

Designed for residential and commercial installations where flexible switch layouts are needed, the grid system allows multiple modules to be grouped in a single faceplate. This is useful in open-plan kitchens with multiple lighting zones, hallways controlling several circuits, or commercial spaces where switch configurations change over time. The clip-in fitting means modules can be added or replaced without rewiring the entire mounting frame.

The module measures 24.8mm wide, matching Knightsbridge's single-module grid width, and projects 7mm from the mounting frame once clipped in. The brushed brass finish shows a directional grain pattern that pairs with other Knightsbridge grid modules in the same finish, including dimmers, sockets and blank plates. The ABS body and steel rocker mechanism are rated IP20 and carry a 25-year warranty.

What mounting frame does this require?

The module clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames, sold separately. Frames are available in 1-module, 2-module, 3-module, 4-module and larger widths, allowing you to combine multiple modules in a single faceplate.

What does 20AX mean?

20AX is the rating for the switch mechanism. It indicates the module can handle up to 20 amps on lighting circuits, equivalent to 4,600W at 230V. This is higher than the 10AX rating found on standard domestic light switches, making it suitable for multi-lamp circuits or high-output LED downlight systems.

What's the difference between 2-way and 1-way?

A 2-way switch can be used either as a simple on/off switch or paired with another 2-way switch to control the same light from two locations (e.g., top and bottom of stairs). A 1-way switch can only function as a single on/off control.

Can I mix finishes in the same grid frame?

Technically yes, but mixing finishes in the same faceplate creates a mismatched appearance. Knightsbridge produces grid modules in multiple finishes (polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, brushed brass, matt black, white) so modules within the same frame can be kept consistent.
