Description
The Knightsbridge GDM006BN is a 20AX 2-way retractive single-pole switch module with a black nickel finish and PRESS engraving on the rocker face. The module clips into compatible grid mounting frames from the front without tools, allowing individual switches to be assembled into custom multi-gang configurations alongside socket modules, dimmer modules and blank plates.
Designed for both residential and light commercial installations, the retractive action means the rocker returns to its neutral position after being pressed, making this suitable for controlling motorised blinds, garage doors, entrance gates, stairway lighting with timed cut-off circuits, and other applications where momentary contact is required rather than latching. The 20AX rating handles loads up to 4,600W on 230V mains, covering most domestic and light commercial switching requirements.
The black nickel finish is a dark gunmetal tone with a low-sheen surface that resists fingerprints better than polished finishes. The module body is constructed from ABS thermoplastic with steel internal components, and the IP20 rating suits dry indoor locations. The module measures 24.8mm wide, allowing three modules to fit side-by-side in a standard triple-width grid frame, or two modules with a socket in a double frame.

Frequently Asked
What is a retractive switch and when is it used?
A retractive switch returns to its neutral position after being pressed, providing momentary contact rather than staying on or off like a standard switch. This makes it suitable for controlling motorised equipment (garage doors, gates, blinds), stairway lighting with timed circuits, and bell-push applications.
What mounting frame is needed?
The module clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames, sold separately. Choose a frame width based on how many modules you need — a 24.8mm module width means three fit into a triple frame, two into a double frame. The frame then fixes to a standard 35mm minimum depth back box.
Can this be wired as a 2-way switch circuit?
Yes. The 2-way designation means it can be wired in a circuit with another 2-way switch to control the same load from two locations, or used as a simple on-off switch when only one position is needed.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces grid modules in polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black, white and stainless steel. Use the search function or filters to find other finishes in stock at Niori.
