Description
The Knightsbridge 20AX 2-way key module is a single-pole grid module marked 'EMG LTG' (emergency lighting) with 'TOP' and 'TEST' positions embossed on the faceplate. The module accepts a removable key that controls the 2-way switching function, allowing emergency lighting circuits to be isolated or tested by authorised personnel only. The 20AX rating handles loads up to 4,600W at 230V, well above the typical demand of emergency lighting battery units or maintained fittings.
Designed for use within Knightsbridge's modular grid system, the module clips into standard grid mounting frames from the front without tools. Grid systems allow multiple modules (switches, sockets, blanks, dimmers) to be combined in a single wall plate, giving flexibility for commercial, hospitality, education and healthcare installations where custom control layouts are needed. The key can be removed in either the 'top' or 'test' position, preventing unauthorised switching of emergency lighting circuits during normal operation or during testing sequences.
The module measures 24.8mm wide (single grid width) and requires a minimum 35mm back box depth when fitted into a standard grid frame. The matt black ABS and steel construction gives a professional finish that pairs with black grid frames and darker interior schemes common in commercial and industrial installations. Spare keys are available separately under code GDKEY if additional copies are needed for multi-user sites or replacement after loss.

Frequently Asked
What is the key module used for?
The key module controls emergency lighting circuits in commercial and public buildings. The removable key prevents unauthorised switching, ensuring emergency lighting remains operational during normal use and can only be tested or isolated by authorised personnel.
Does the module include a grid frame?
No. The module clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames, which are sold separately. Grid frames are available in 1-module, 2-module, 3-module and larger configurations in various finishes.
Can spare keys be ordered?
Yes. Spare keys are available separately under Knightsbridge code GDKEY. This is useful for multi-user sites or replacement after loss.
What back box depth is needed?
A minimum 35mm back box depth is required when the module is fitted into a standard grid frame. This is a standard UK back box size.
