Description
The Knightsbridge NET12WH is a 20AX 1-gang intermediate modular switch in white, measuring 25x50mm to fit euro modular faceplate systems. An intermediate switch is used in three-way or four-way lighting circuits where a single light or group of lights needs to be controlled from three or more switch positions — typically in hallways, staircases, or large open-plan rooms.
Designed for residential, hospitality and commercial installation, the switch module clips into euro modular faceplates and back boxes with a minimum depth of 25mm. The modular format allows bespoke switch and socket combinations to be built on a single faceplate — for example, pairing this intermediate switch with socket modules or data modules to create a tailored multi-gang configuration without pre-configured plate limitations.
The white ABS construction provides a neutral finish that matches standard white faceplates from Knightsbridge's modular ranges. The 20AX rating handles lighting loads up to 4,600W on 230V circuits, which is higher than the standard 10AX rating found on most domestic switches and gives headroom for commercial applications with higher connected loads. The IP20 rating confirms the module is suitable for dry indoor environments.
Intermediate switches work in conjunction with two 2-way switches to create multi-point control circuits. In a typical three-switch setup, the intermediate switch sits between two 2-way switches and allows the lighting to be toggled from any of the three positions. Additional intermediate switches can be added between the 2-way switches to extend control to four, five or more positions.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between an intermediate switch and a 2-way switch?
A 2-way switch is used in pairs to control a light from two positions. An intermediate switch is used between two 2-way switches to add a third (or fourth, fifth, etc.) control point. You need at least two 2-way switches in any circuit — intermediate switches only work when placed between them.
What faceplate does this fit?
The 25x50mm module fits Knightsbridge euro modular faceplates designed for modular components. These faceplates are sold separately and come in various gang configurations (2-gang, 3-gang, 4-gang, etc.) and finishes (white, chrome, brass, black). The module clips into the faceplate frame without tools.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 25mm back box depth is needed for safe installation. The module itself is 25.7mm deep, so the back box provides just enough clearance for the switch mechanism and terminal connections behind the faceplate.
What load can it handle?
The 20AX rating means the switch can handle up to 20A at 230V on resistive loads such as incandescent or LED lighting, which equals approximately 4,600W. For inductive loads (motors, transformers) the rating may be lower — refer to the datasheet for specific load types.
