Description
The Knightsbridge 20A flex outlet plate provides a dedicated connection point for fixed appliances such as water heaters, towel rails and central heating boilers, housed behind a polished chrome flat plate with a 2.5mm projection from the wall. The outlet accepts flexible cables up to 10mm diameter through a central aperture with integrated strain relief, which secures the cable run without exposing individual cores.
Designed for hard-wired appliances where a switched socket is impractical or where building regulations require a permanent connection, the plate fits a standard 25mm minimum back box and uses visible fixing screws at two points on the faceplate. The 20A rating handles continuous loads up to 4,600W on 230V mains, which covers most domestic water heating and towel rail installations.
The polished chrome finish is 201 stainless steel with a mirror-bright surface that pairs with chrome taps, radiator valves and other bathroom or kitchen fittings. The flat plate design sits 2.5mm proud of the wall rather than the deeper bevelled profile of some flex outlets, giving a more modern low-profile appearance. Terminal capacity is 3 x 2.5mm² or 2 x 4.0mm² cable with twin earth terminals, covering the typical wiring configurations for domestic fixed appliances.

Frequently Asked
What appliances is this rated for?
The 20A rating covers fixed appliances drawing up to 4,600W continuous load on 230V mains. Typical installations include electric towel rails, wall-mounted water heaters, central heating zone valves, and bathroom extractor fans wired as permanent connections.
What cable diameter does the outlet accept?
The central aperture accepts flexible cables up to 10mm diameter. The integrated strain relief grips the cable sheath to prevent strain on the internal terminals and to maintain the IP20 seal around the cable entry.
Is it suitable for bathroom installation?
The IP20 rating is suitable for zones outside the bathroom zones defined in BS 7671 wiring regulations. For towel rail connections in a typical bathroom, the outlet is usually mounted outside zone 2, which is acceptable. Confirm zone placement with a qualified electrician.
What back box depth is needed?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is required. The plate projects 2.5mm from the wall once fitted, with 19.03mm recessed into the back box to accommodate terminals and cable connections.
