Description
The Knightsbridge 20A flex outlet plate is a hardwired connection point for fixed appliances such as refrigerators, water heaters, towel rails and central heating systems. A single cable entry aperture in the centre of the brushed brass faceplate accepts cables up to 10mm diameter, with an internal strain relief mechanism securing the cable once fed through.
Designed for residential, commercial and hospitality installations where appliances need permanent wiring rather than plug-and-socket connection, the 20A rating handles continuous loads up to 4,600W on 230V mains. The flat plate design sits nearly flush to the wall with just 2.5mm projection beyond the mounting box, making it suitable for kitchens, utility rooms and bathrooms where protruding accessories can interfere with furniture or fittings.
The brushed brass finish is applied to a 201 stainless steel base, giving corrosion resistance in high-humidity environments such as bathrooms and utility rooms. The terminal block inside accepts three conductors at 2.5mm² or two conductors at 4.0mm² with twin earth terminals, and the plate fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth. Knightsbridge backs this outlet with a 25-year guarantee covering manufacturing defects and finish deterioration.

Frequently Asked
What appliances is this outlet used for?
The 20A rating suits fixed appliances that require permanent hardwired connection rather than a plug-and-socket arrangement. Common applications include refrigerators, water heaters, electric towel rails, central heating pumps, and bathroom extractor fans where continuous operation is expected.
What cable size can it accept?
The cable entry aperture accepts cables up to 10mm outer diameter. The internal terminal block accepts three conductors at 2.5mm² cross-section or two conductors at 4.0mm² with twin earth terminals. An internal strain relief mechanism secures the cable once fed through the aperture.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The flat plate design adds 2.5mm projection from the wall once fitted, giving a near-flush finish that sits comfortably alongside other Knightsbridge flat plate accessories.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
Yes, provided it is installed outside zones 0, 1 and 2 as defined in BS 7671 wiring regulations. The IP20 rating means the outlet is not splash-proof, so it must be positioned where direct water spray or steam condensation will not reach the faceplate. The brushed brass finish on stainless steel offers some corrosion resistance in humid environments.
