Description

The Knightsbridge 20A flex outlet plate provides a hard-wired connection point for fixed appliances such as cooker hoods, extractor fans, towel warmers and permanent kitchen equipment. The antique brass screwless faceplate hides all fixings behind a clip-on cover, leaving a clean metal surface with a single central cable aperture.

Designed for residential and commercial installation where fixed appliances are wired directly into the building's electrical system rather than plugged into a socket, the outlet accepts cables up to 10mm in diameter and includes a strain relief grommet that grips the cable sheath to prevent tension reaching the terminals. The 20A rating supports appliances drawing up to 4,600W on 230V mains.

The plate is constructed from 201 stainless steel with an antique brass PVD coating that gives a warm, aged appearance suited to traditional and period interiors. The screwless design clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, so the visible faceplate has no screw holes. The 87.5mm square format fits single-gang UK back boxes with a 25mm minimum depth.

Frequently Asked

What appliances is a 20A flex outlet used for?

Flex outlets are used for fixed appliances that are permanently wired into the building's electrical system rather than plugged in. Common applications include cooker hoods, extractor fans, towel warmers, wall-mounted heaters and built-in kitchen equipment. The 20A rating supports appliances drawing up to 4,600W on 230V mains.

What cable sizes does it accept?

The outlet accepts cables up to 10mm diameter through the central aperture. Terminal capacity is 3 x 2.5mm² conductors or 2 x 4.0mm² conductors with twin earth terminals. The strain relief grommet grips the cable sheath to prevent tension reaching the screw terminals.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The plate itself has a 4.3mm projection from the wall once fitted, with 17.2mm recessed into the back box.

Is the screwless plate removable?

Yes. The antique brass cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame that is screwed to the back box. The cover can be removed and re-clipped without disconnecting the appliance cable, useful for redecorating around the outlet.
