Description
The Knightsbridge GDM150IPC is a 2-way intelligent dimmer module with a polished chrome rotary control, designed for installation in Knightsbridge grid wiring systems (Screwless, Flat Plate, Raised Edge and Metal Clad). The module switches automatically between leading edge and trailing edge modes to match the connected load, handling 10-150W incandescent, mains voltage halogen, or low-voltage halogen with electronic transformers, or 5-150W dimmable LED lamps.
Intended for residential and hospitality installations where dimming control is needed across a mix of lamp types, the module fits a standard 35mm minimum back box and occupies a single grid aperture. The rotary control allows push on/off operation and continuous dimming through a full rotation. Two-way wiring enables control from two separate switch positions in the same circuit, making the module suitable for hallways, staircases, and rooms with multiple entry points.
The intelligent design detects the load type on connection and switches between trailing edge (for LEDs and electronic transformers) and leading edge (for incandescent and magnetic transformers) without manual selection. Overload and over-temperature protection prevent damage from sustained high loads, while an inrush current limiter (ICL) protects against the surge that occurs when multiple lamps are switched on simultaneously. Knightsbridge recommends a maximum of 10-12 lamps per grid dimmer to prevent inrush current issues. The polished chrome finish provides a mirror-bright reflective surface that pairs with classical and contemporary interiors.

Frequently Asked
What does 'intelligent' mean on this dimmer?
The module automatically detects the connected load type and switches between leading edge mode (for incandescent, halogen with magnetic transformers) and trailing edge mode (for dimmable LEDs, halogen with electronic transformers). No manual selection is needed.
What's the maximum number of LED lamps it can control?
Knightsbridge recommends a maximum of 10-12 lamps per grid dimmer to prevent inrush current problems when the circuit is switched on. The total wattage must not exceed 150W for LEDs (5-150W rating).
Is it compatible with all dimmable LED lamps?
Not all dimmable LEDs behave identically. Check with the lamp manufacturer for compatibility with trailing edge dimmers. Some LEDs may flicker, fail to dim smoothly, or refuse to turn off completely depending on their internal driver design.
What back box depth is required?
A 35mm minimum mounting box depth is needed. The module projects 23mm from the mounting surface and recesses 22mm behind it once installed in the grid system.
