Description

The Knightsbridge 2-gang grid faceplate accepts two modular grid inserts within a square-edge antique brass surround measuring 89mm x 89mm. The faceplate itself is a cover plate designed to fit over a separate 1-2 gang grid mounting frame (sold separately), allowing custom electrical configurations where switches, sockets, data outlets and other grid modules are mixed within a single wall aperture.

Designed for residential and commercial installations where a coordinated antique brass finish is specified across switches, sockets and data points, the faceplate pairs with Knightsbridge's Square Edge Antique Brass range. The grid system allows installers to build configurations that traditional fixed-format plates cannot achieve, such as combining a 13A socket with two data sockets, or three switches with one dimmer, all behind a single 2-gang faceplate.

The faceplate is pressed from steel and finished in antique brass with a low-sheen patina that softens reflections and adds warmth to period, traditional and transitional interiors. The 10.5mm projection from the wall once fitted keeps the faceplate flush with typical plasterwork without protruding. The IP20 rating confirms suitability for dry internal locations; the plate is not rated for bathroom zones or outdoor use.

What mounting frame does this faceplate require?

The faceplate fits Knightsbridge's 1-2 gang grid mounting frame, which is sold separately and fixes to a standard 25mm back box. The grid modules clip into the frame first, then the faceplate clips onto the front of the assembly.

What grid modules are compatible?

Any Knightsbridge grid module rated for the grid system will fit. This includes switches (1-way, 2-way, intermediate, retractive), dimmers, sockets (13A, USB), data modules (RJ45, coax, HDMI), blank plates and indicator modules. Each module occupies one grid position, so a 2-gang faceplate accepts two modules.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means the faceplate is not rated for bathroom zones where moisture ingress is a risk. For bathroom installations, consider IP-rated alternatives or consult an electrician for zone compliance.

How does the antique brass finish differ from polished brass?

Antique brass has a darker, warmer tone with a low-sheen patina that mimics aged brass. Polished brass is brighter, more reflective and closer to a gold tone. Antique brass suits period and traditional interiors where a softer, aged appearance is preferred.
