Description

The Knightsbridge 2-gang blanking plate covers unused or redundant electrical back boxes behind a polished chrome flat faceplate. The plate measures 147.5mm wide by 87.5mm high and projects just 2.5mm from the wall once fitted, making it one of the lowest-profile blanking solutions available for standard UK double-gang boxes.

Designed for residential and commercial installation, the blanking plate fits over any standard 2-gang back box where sockets, switches or data outlets have been removed or where provision was made during first fix but no outlet is currently needed. The built-in gasket seats against the wall surface to prevent dust ingress, and the integral earth terminal allows safe earthing of the metal faceplate to the back box for electrical safety compliance.

The polished chrome finish provides a bright metallic surface that reflects light and pairs with polished chrome sockets, switches and other accessories in the same room. The premium-grade steel construction resists corrosion and maintains its finish over years of use. The plate is rated IP20 for dry indoor locations and carries IEC 60670-1 certification for electrical accessory boxes.

What back box does this fit?

The plate fits any standard UK 2-gang back box with fixing centres 60.3mm apart vertically and either 120.6mm or 146mm apart horizontally. The faceplate dimensions are 147.5mm x 87.5mm, which covers the full opening of a standard double-gang box.

Is the earth terminal required?

Yes. The metal faceplate must be earthed to the back box for electrical safety compliance. The integral earth terminal on the rear of the plate connects to the earth wire or earth terminal in the back box during installation.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means the plate is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It is not rated for zones 1 or 2 in bathrooms where direct water spray or condensation is present. For bathroom zones requiring higher IP ratings, use a different blanking plate rated IP44 or higher.
