The Knightsbridge 2-gang blanking plate covers unused or redundant electrical back boxes behind a gunmetal flat plate that projects just 2.5mm from the wall surface. The ultra-low-profile construction uses premium-grade steel with an integrated gasket that seals the plate to the wall, creating a clean finish over boxes that were originally planned for sockets, switches or data points but are no longer required.

Designed for residential renovations, office fit-outs and commercial installations where electrical layouts have changed and boxes have become redundant, the blanking plate fits standard 2-gang UK back boxes. The gunmetal finish provides a mid-grey metallic tone that sits between brushed steel and matt black, pairing comfortably with both warm and cool colour schemes in contemporary and industrial interiors.

The flat plate design means there is no stepped edge or visible border between the plate and the wall once installed, giving a more integrated appearance than traditional raised-edge plates. The included earth terminal allows the plate to be earthed to the back box for additional safety on metal installations. The plate fits standard 2-gang UK back boxes with 60.3mm horizontal spacing between fixing centres. The integrated gasket seals against the wall around the back box opening.

Why would I need a blanking plate?

Blanking plates cover electrical back boxes that were originally installed for sockets, switches or data points but are no longer needed, often after room layouts change during renovation. The plate provides a finished appearance and prevents dust or debris entering the box.

Is the gunmetal finish prone to fingerprints?

Gunmetal is a mid-grey metallic finish with a low sheen. It shows fewer fingerprints than high-polish finishes but more than matt black. Wipe with a dry microfibre cloth to remove any surface marks.

Does the earth terminal need to be connected?

The earth terminal allows the steel plate to be earthed to the back box for additional safety on metal installations. Connection is recommended where an earth conductor is present in the back box but is not mandatory for the plate to function as a cover.
