16A 2P+E Angled Surface Mount Socket IP44 - Blue & White

The Knightsbridge IN008 is a 16A 2-pole + earth angled surface mount socket rated IP44, supplied in blue and white finish with a PG21 cable gland fitting and a PG21 to M20 adaptor. The angled design positions the outlet face at approximately 45° to the mounting surface, improving cable routing clearance and reducing strain on plugged-in leads in confined spaces.

Designed for industrial, construction and outdoor event installation, the IP44 rating provides protection against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for both indoor workshops and covered outdoor locations. The 2P+E configuration supplies live, neutral and earth connections at 240V, handling loads up to 16A (3,840W). The socket mounts directly onto walls, workbenches or equipment enclosures using the two fixing holes on the rear base plate.

The blue socket body and white base follow IEC 60309 colour coding for 240V single-phase industrial connectors, providing instant visual identification on site. The included PG21 cable gland allows direct cable entry through the rear of the socket body, with the PG21 to M20 adaptor offering compatibility with M20-threaded cable glands where site wiring standards require metric threading. The moulded plastic body withstands repeated plug insertion and removal cycles without cracking, and the hinged cover protects the outlet aperture when not in use.

What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. This makes the socket suitable for covered outdoor locations such as canopies, loading bays and temporary event shelters, but it should not be exposed to direct rain or submersion.

What cable gland sizes does it accept?

The socket is supplied with a PG21 cable gland fitting and a PG21 to M20 adaptor. This covers both PG (German standard) and M (metric) cable entry threads commonly used in industrial wiring.

Can it be mounted vertically or horizontally?

Yes. The angled design works in either orientation depending on the direction of cable entry needed. The two fixing holes on the rear base plate allow the socket to be rotated to suit the installation.

What plug type is compatible?

This socket accepts IEC 60309 16A 2P+E 240V industrial plugs, recognisable by their blue casing and matching pin configuration. Standard UK 13A domestic plugs are not compatible.
