Description

The Knightsbridge CU9000S is a 13A 2-gang single-pole switched socket with twin earth terminals and a white rounded-edge plate. The plate is moulded from thermoset resin with anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011, making it suitable for homes, offices, care facilities and educational settings where hygiene matters. Single-pole switching isolates the live line when the socket is switched off, while the twin earth terminals provide additional grounding safety.

Designed for residential and commercial installation, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses top-access captive terminals for faster wiring. The rounded-edge plate has a 7mm projection from the wall and includes screw cap covers that hide the fixing screws once the socket is installed. The 13A rating handles standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W per outlet.

The white finish pairs with both traditional and contemporary UK interior schemes, and the rounded-edge profile softens the socket's appearance compared to square-edged alternatives. ASTA approval (License No. 1412) confirms compliance with BS 1363-2:2016+A1:2018, and Knightsbridge backs the socket with a 25-year warranty. The anti-microbial properties are inherent to the thermoset resin and do not rely on surface coatings that can wear off over time.

Frequently Asked

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The rounded-edge plate adds 7mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

What does single-pole switching mean?

Single-pole switching isolates the live line when the socket is switched off, while the neutral remains connected. This is standard for most UK domestic sockets. Twin earth terminals provide additional safety through enhanced grounding.

How do the anti-microbial properties work?

The thermoset resin material has inherent anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011. These are moulded into the material itself, not applied as a surface coating, so they do not wear off with cleaning or use over time.

Are the fixing screws hidden?

Yes. The socket includes screw cap covers that clip over the fixing screws once the plate is installed, giving a cleaner finish on the wall.
