The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang SP switched socket adds one USB-A and one USB-C charging port behind a black nickel screwless faceplate with a black insert. The single-pole switching isolates the live line when the socket is switched off, with each outlet rated at 13A for standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W.

Designed for residential, hospitality and office installation, the socket fits a standard 25-35mm back box depth depending on wiring conditions and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. This means there are no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed, giving a cleaner finish than traditional screw-fixed plates. The USB ports share a 5V DC 4A output, delivering simultaneous charging for two devices.

The black nickel finish is a dark gunmetal tone that sits between polished chrome and matt black, providing a contemporary accent that pairs well with industrial, modern and monochrome interiors. The black insert behind the faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a defined edge to each outlet aperture. The USB-C port supports modern fast-charge protocols, while the USB-A retains compatibility with older cables and devices.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for most installations, but up to 35mm may be required depending on wiring conditions and the number of cables entering the back box. The screwless cover plate adds approximately 4mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

What's the USB charging output?

The USB ports share a 5V DC 4A output. When both ports are in use, the total current is divided between the connected devices. The USB-C port supports fast-charge protocols where the connected device is compatible.

What's the difference between SP and DP switching?

SP (single-pole) switches isolate only the live line when turned off. DP (double-pole) switches isolate both live and neutral, providing additional safety for high-draw appliances. For standard domestic use, SP switching is sufficient.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the socket and re-clipped without re-wiring.
