Description

The Knightsbridge CU9KW is a 13A 2-gang single-pole switched socket with integrated Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing remote control and scheduling through the SmartKnight or Smartlife smartphone apps. The socket connects to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks and supports voice control via Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri Shortcuts, enabling hands-free operation of connected appliances.

Designed for residential smart home installation, the socket replaces standard 2-gang wall sockets and adds app-based scheduling, power monitoring, and remote switching without additional hubs or controllers. The single-pole switching isolates the live line when off, while the Wi-Fi module draws just 0.8W on standby. Each outlet is rated at 13A, handling standard UK appliances up to 3,000W combined load across both gangs.

The rounded edge white thermoset resin faceplate measures 146mm x 86mm with 7mm projection from the wall and requires a 25-35mm back box depth depending on wiring configuration. The integrated neon indicator confirms when each outlet is live. Power monitoring in the app tracks consumption in real time, allowing users to identify high-draw devices and set timers to switch off appliances automatically at scheduled times, reducing standby consumption.

The socket is not suitable for electric vehicle charging or other continuous high-draw applications exceeding the 13A rating. Installation requires connection to mains wiring by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations only.
